almost entirely due to the fact that i didnt want the piece to be untitled.. this is 'contraption one' although shown in 'locus' it is definately a work in progress. The show has however served as an excellent platform for further analysis and criticism which is so integral to its development both as visual art and a vehicle for the communication of my perspective on and/or understanding of reality. on a lighter note.. ... i spent most of today patching up and painting my studio wall (it has become very holey and is more importantly.. magnolia!)as after a long bout in the woodworkshop i want to spend the majority of my remaining time in there and wanted to clean the place up a bit before hand. i have also been concidering the possible uses of what i think i can be best refered to as 'commercial detritus' i accumulate in my job as i feel compelled that they be included in my practice.

friday was an absolutely fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable day. it was the climax of the project which was/is organised by three tutors and hosted by the tate modern. there where 36 students (12 per uni) selected, these 36 were randomly paired and all individuals were asked to send a set of instructions for a piece of work to their partner to carry out. the experience gave me (and im sure all otheres involved) a fascinating insight and perhaps an alternate perspective on my practice. i was asked to make 10 strangers happy in 10 different ways..

i finally got round to compiling the little publication of artist statements for the show, although im STILL waiting for a couple images, its almost entirely ready to print, and ive even managed to sort out some of that at an extremely low cost. its amazing the amount of excess paper ive been faffing about with lately, it has however also been rather enlightening to learn InDesign (or at least a little of it) and i will and have already been using it for other work. i have continued work on the contraption, it now has a hand crank connected to the first wheel and all the parts of the mechanism that need to be glued have been and i will spend some time today adjustings the belts.
