'no working title'

friday was an absolutely fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable day. it was the climax of the project which was/is organised by three tutors and hosted by the tate modern. there where 36 students (12 per uni) selected, these 36 were randomly paired and all individuals were asked to send a set of instructions for a piece of work to their partner to carry out. the experience gave me (and im sure all otheres involved) a fascinating insight and perhaps an alternate perspective on my practice.

The new year begins.. with the customary paperwork in the form of an essay relating to a topic of last semesters seminars. After initial fear and avoidance, its turning into an interesting and very engaging piece of research, although at least a little rushed with the deadline looming. The intention is to explore and try to better understand the nature, purpose or reasoning behind the desire to make… but this is all still somewhat unsteady ground.... so I’ve been doing a lot of reading, and will be interviewing a few of my fellow students with a view to more in depth research for my third year dissertation…. .. MadeScapes and all that part4

for the fourth and final in our initial series of shows we unfortunately lost the space so generously lent to us by bristol city council.. but the thanks to the hospitality of a more established local art space/alumni project ( Bristol Diving School ) the show did go on.. Topographic Translation featured the work Lizzie Cannon , Nic Marshall , Poppy Pitt and myself and is far better described by Trevor Smith You have arrived at your destination Topographic Translation Bristol Diving School, Bristol. Oct 2011. In advance of my journey here, I entered the postcode of Bristol Diving School into Google and clicked maps. I was then able to preview my entire route, culminating in the approach along Cumberland Road and the turn-off into Hanover Place. I even picked out the best place to park my car.
